Ansel Adams was commissioned by the National Park Service in 1941 to create a photo mural for the Department of the Interior Building in Washington, D.C. The theme was to be nature as exemplified and protected in the U.S. national parks. The project was halted because of World War II and never resumed. These photos were part of that project and includes photos from Death Valley, Yosemite, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and other national parks and prominent locations.
